Before you come to our studio
Taking care of yourself and following basic guidelines before getting a tattoo is just as important as regular care after the artwork is done. Before the day you come in for your session with the tattoo artist, you should acquaint yourself with the basic knowledge well in advance. From experience, we know that it’s worth presenting even the smallest detail to each of our clients, so they can fully prepare for our first meeting.
How to prepare for your first visit to the tattoo studio?
We have several valuable tips and advice for you to follow to ensure that the whole session runs smoothly, comfortably, and most importantly, safely:
- Do not drink alcohol the day before your visit to the tattoo studio.
This tip is extremely important and valuable for the proper course of not only the first but also each subsequent visit. It’s not just about not coming to the studio under the influence of alcohol (which is obvious), but also about not consuming alcoholic beverages the day before the planned visit. You must remember that alcohol thins your blood and can lead to significant bleeding during the session, which may cause spreading and smudging of the colors and outlines of the new tattoo.
- 3-4 days before the procedure, moisturize the areas of your body that will be tattooed.
It is very important to properly moisturize and nourish the skin a few days before the procedure, which will undergo our intervention. The skin then becomes more elastic, and proper care prevents the occurrence of dry skin, irritations, or other damage that can affect the safe and proper execution of the tattoo.
- 24 hours before the procedure, remove hair from the tattoo area.
It is important that you shave the area to be tattooed 24 hours before the scheduled session at our tattoo studio. This is a necessary step that will ensure smooth skin and thus allow the planned tattoo to be performed.
- Do not tan before your scheduled visit to the tattoo studio.
You must remember that exposing the skin to the sun and using tanning beds can lead to irritation and often even burns. The paler the skin, the better, so it’s worth remembering that fresh tans are not an option at the tattoo studio.
- Eat a meal before your visit to the tattoo studio.
For many, this tip may seem unnecessary, but believe that it is very significant. Mainly because getting a tattoo can be quite strenuous, depending on the location, style, and each of our clients’ pain thresholds. Therefore, it’s worth gaining energy from a nutritious meal, especially when the planned visit to the studio is expected to last several hours. If you have eaten, your body can relax during the session and focus on what’s most important at the moment.
- Drink plenty of water and hydrate your body.
This advice is particularly useful for people with very dehydrated and flabby skin. In such cases, it is recommended to drink about 2 liters of water daily for about 7 days. A good solution is also to add a little rock or Himalayan salt to the water, which hydrates in a comparable way to receiving an IV. The skin then becomes taut and elastic, thus better cooperating during the tattoo process.
- Get enough sleep and regenerate before getting a tattoo.
Before each session, it’s worth ensuring you get enough sleep, which will provide you with the necessary regeneration. Sleeping about 6-8 hours will give you rest and a relaxed body, which reacts much better to pain. You must remember that both lack of sleep and hunger, bad mood, or general fatigue can lead to an increased experience of pain or discomfort during the session.
- Relax once you’re in the chair.
If you’ve taken care of all the previous tips, now is the perfect moment to remember to relax during the entire session. Sit comfortably in the chair, feel at home, relax, talk, listen to music, and relax your body. Find and apply your way to manage stress and tension, and you will see that the whole session will be much more comfortable.
