Care of color and black-and-white tattoos – what is worth knowing?

We Answer Your Questions

There are many valuable tips regarding tattoo care that our studio won’t let you forget. Our clients continually ask about how to take care of a freshly made tattoo. To meet your needs, we have prepared a clear, important, and straightforward list of points, describing what is most crucial when taking care of a tattoo. Remember these recommendations, and it might be best to print them out and hang them in a visible place. This action will undoubtedly facilitate the entire tattoo healing process.

The tattoo session went smoothly – what next?

  • After the tattoo is done, we take care of washing it, applying the appropriate cream, and wrapping the tattooed area with breathable film.
  • After these steps, you can go home, where you should carefully remove the film about 3 – 4 hours after it was applied. Remember that this film is not reusable and can simply be discarded.
  • The next step is to thoroughly wash the tattoo with warm water and possibly add mild soap. Remember not to use cleaning products with chemical dyes or perfumes.
  • For drying the washed areas, it is best to use paper towels or sterile gauze. In this case, using a cotton towel is not recommended.
  • After removing the film and performing the basic washing actions, we recommend washing and applying cream to the tattoo about 3 – 4 times a day for about two days. You should know that a fresh tattoo will exude plasma during the first few days, which is a completely natural phenomenon, but it will require more frequent cleaning.
  • When applying cream/ointment to the tattoo, ensure that the area is clean and dry, and the massaging of a small amount of the product should continue until it is completely absorbed.
  • The cream should be used for a period of 3 – 10 days depending on many factors, such as the location of the tattoo. Regarding cream application, it’s important to note that when peeling begins, the skin area where the tattoo was made will look like it’s sunburned. As the tattoo enters the full peeling phase, it should be properly cared for, so you should apply the designated cream 1 – 2 times a day.
  • It is also very important not to expose the tattooed area to scratches, abrasions, and dirt.
  • After getting the tattoo, you must also protect it from sunlight until it has healed.
